Marco - Stamford Bridge

Last night to celebrate the end of a tiresome period of our lives, we celebrated by going to Marco Pierre Whites restaurant at the hallowed ground called home by Chelsea FC.

Settling into our very French Bistro surrounds by losing ourselved in a huge corner leather booth, I ordered a glass of Laurent Perrier Brut Champagne, whilst the Hussyband indulged in a Martini (with olives of course).

We started off with seafood....half a dozen natural Colchester oysters for the Hussy, and a terrine of foie gras with sauternne jelly for moi. OMG. The FG was delicious, rich, buttery, and evil even with its side of toasted brioche to cut the richness, I would have been a very happy person indeed even if I had only gotten half the size serving.

Onto the mains....the special game of the day a confit of white duck leg - was too hard for Ger to resist. I went for the slow cooked pork belly. Both came with a side of braised cabbage (red for him, white for me) and the best mashed potatoes I have ever had.

No, I mean it. We had what are reported to be the best mash in the world when we dine at L'Atellier in Tokyo (Joel Rubuchons 2 starred Michellin restaurant). These were even better. Creamy without being cloying, perfectly seasoned, potatoey. Yum

For those of you who dont know. MPW was the youngest chef ever to be awarded 3 Michelin Stars) and he first chef to ever give them back to concentrate on his family and enjoy cooking and life again.

I would highly recommend a visit to this, and most likely any other of his establishments, and I look forward to trying more of them!
